Honda Civic CRX
The
Honda Civic CRX was first introduced in 1985 as a lightweight, two-passenger sport hatchback
offering impressive fuel economy and good performance. It was restyled in 1988
and continued production until 1991, when it was replaced by the CRX Del Sol,
a targa-top two-seater with a Civic platform. The new CRX was essentially a Civic
chassis with a sporty body. Initially, two models were offered, the base CRX and
the CRX 1.5. These two models had a 1.3 liter and 1.5 liter engine respectively.
The base Honda Civic CRX offered impressive fuel economy with ratings of 51/67
(city/highway). The CRX's sported a two-tone paint scheme with white, blue or
red with a silver lower bodyside and bumper treatment. The CRX HF (High Fuel economy)
replaced the CRX with a 1.3 liter engine. This model featured an 8-valve version
of the 1.5 liter engine that produced 58 hp yet offered more torque and great
acceleration. The HF's fuel economy ratings stood at 52/57 (city/highway).
