2004 Honda Civic Type R
For 2004, Honda introduces a lighter engine flywheel and clutch assembly. Like
the Integra and the Accord Type R derivatives with which it is related, the
2004 Honda Type R delivers superb dynamic ability, exceptional engineering and a breathtaking
driving experience. The lighter engine flywheel reduces inertia and allows the
advanced i-VTEC engine to shave two-tenths of a second from the car's 0-62 sprint.
This means that the 2004 Type R can get to 60mph at only 6.6 seconds further establishing
its reputation as the fastest accelerating front-drive hatchback. This alteration
also makes the engine feel smoother and more responsive.
Among the other refinements for the
2004 Type R include: gains new three-light projector-style headlamps and new tail light
clusters, revised bumpers, Accord-style door-mounted indicator repeaters plus
the option of a Cosmic Grey metallic paint finish. Aerodynamics is further improved
with carefully shaped and tested chin spoiler, side sill garnish, rear under spoiler,
larger roof spoiler. There are no major changes in the specifications details.
The car retains the 200PS 2.0 liter DOHC i-VTEC engine allied with 6-speed close-ratio
transmission. Sale of the 2004 Civic Type-R began in February of 2004 but will
not be available in the US.
